Last week, Milestone Infrastructure launched a new careers programme, the Military Accelerated Programme (MAP), to help armed forces leavers start a rewarding career in highways.
Milestone’s MAP offers service leavers a springboard into a new career. It provides enhanced training and mentorship to map the valuable skills acquired in military service across to a rewarding new career in highways.
Around 50 people, including service leavers and representatives from charities working with service leavers, attended the launch of the programme.
Held at Drayton Park Golf Club in Oxfordshire, the day offered attendees the opportunity to find out more about Milestone, and the programme, as well as hearing directly from ex-armed forces colleagues about life with the business. Milestone colleagues also supported attendees with advice, through a CV clinic, focused on how to translate military skills and accomplishments to civilian role requirements.
Attendees found the day supportive, with one Service Leaver, saying: “It’s been a really great day. I’m excited to hear about the MAP programme and the CV clinic was really useful. It’s been so helpful to speak to the Milestone team face-to-face to understand how I need to shape my CV to translate my skills and accomplishments into non-military language.”
Milestone’s MAP programme recognises the skills gained via military service and translates them to equivalent highways experience, enabling service leavers to start a new career at a higher grade than they would otherwise be eligible for.
