Last week, a few members of our team in Buckinghamshire graciously volunteered in collaboration with Community Impact Bucks, an independent charity that relies on volunteers to support community projects. Their mission is to “inspire, support and enable voluntary and community action in the county.” We offered to support their group gardening volunteering work, for which 7 of us attended a full day.
Community Impact Bucks’ gardening and befriending service is a thriving initiative with an excellent reputation built on trust. They provide a range of gardening and wellbeing services to vulnerable residents of Buckinghamshire who live on a low income. Their service users include infirm older people, young carers and people living with disabilities. Many live in disadvantaged areas, often isolated and living alone in the community.
We supported a local family in Chalfont St Peters, who due to ill health, required assistance to maintain their garden within their family home of over 46 years. We carried out grass cutting, weeding beds, trimming hedges, tidying dead/wilted plants, cutting low hanging branches, pruning shrubs and a lot more.
“As a Buckinghamshire business, it was an extremely rewarding experience to support the local community to make a significant contribution during their time of need. The whole team felt an enormous sense of achievement, which is credit to the proactive strategic approach within Milestone Infrastructure to ensure a lasting, positive legacy in our local communities”
