Milestone Infrastructure’s streetlighting team in Surrey recently welcomed an enthusiastic young visitor to their depot.
Francis (pictured below) has a keen interest in streetlighting. He’s fascinated by the different types of streetlights and how they work. To support his passion for streetlighting, Francis and his dad Richard visited Milestone’s depot to walk through our work. As a souvenir of his visit, Francis was given some redundant lanterns, which he has added to his impressive collection.
Afterwards, Richard said: “Francis said that the visit and being given some of the streetlights made him really happy, and that it was one of the best days of his life. He is very passionate about streetlights and very knowledgeable about them too.”
Marc Zahra, Customer Liaison Officer, said: “This is one of many visits we have provided for young people with an interest in street lighting. It was a personal highlight of mine having Francis visit and being able to see his passion and delight when looking at our equipment. It was a pleasure to see and really made my week. It’s good to be able to support young people as part of our drive to promote STEM within our business.”
During the visit, Francis spoke with Marc about his favourite streetlight manufacturer and the rollout of LED lighting across Surrey – which is a great way to illuminate our public spaces, keep people safe and reduce energy consumption and carbon outputs.
Throughout M Group Services, we are committed to supporting and educating the next generation and helping young people develop their knowledge. We are delighted to see our teams engaging with passionate young people keen to learn more about our work and STEM activities.
