As part of our commitment to working in local communities, Milestone Infrastructure began a weeklong garden revamp project for a well-known charity in Cambridge, Jimmy’s, who support people on their journey through homelessness.
We provided the residents of the property with a wildlife garden, a vegetable patch, levelled the lawn, added a patio area, a new path, painted fences and made the area tidy and safe to use.
In total approximately 20 of our people within Milestone volunteered across the week.
Jimmy’s first opened in 1995 as Cambridge’s first all year-round night shelter and now offers a much wider range of support. It remains one of the most prominent organisations within the community supporting people on their journey through homelessness. Currently owning nine residential properties across Cambridge City Centre but with only two handymen managing them, the charity heavily relies on volunteers.
The Milestone team have received incredible feedback along with a thank you letter which reads the following:
“Jimmy’s staff along with the residents at Birdwood Road, would like to give a massive thanks to the team at Milestone Infrastructure for the wonderful work they did transforming the garden into a special place for the residents to enjoy. It lets them know that there are people who do care.
“Everyone is still in awe of the kindness and generosity of the team, taking time out from their busy schedules to commit to a week of creating a patio, painting the fences, clearing weed and brambles, levelling and seeding the front and back grass areas and much more.
“Summertime is here and no doubt the residents will certainly be enjoying their new garden. Again, many thanks and appreciation for thinking of Jimmy’s.”
