As part of M Group Services’ ongoing commitment to support Ex-Armed Forces leavers, Milestone Infrastructure has hosted several events across our contracts, dedicated to engaging with the community.
Recently, our Hampshire team ran an ‘Experience Day’ for armed forces leavers, providing 15 highly skilled job seekers with an insight into what we do at Milestone.
Hosted at our Hampshire Highways Depot in Hook, the day saw attendees hear first hand from one of our Ex-Armed Forces colleagues about their experiences with us, as well as advise on how to translate military skills and accomplishments to role requirements in the infrastructure industry.
Later in the day, the Armed Forces leavers were taken on a guided tour of one of our nearby footways resurfacing projects, providing them with a chance to see highways maintenance from a new perspective.
Our Wiltshire contract team also came together with client, Wiltshire Council, to host their first Ex-Forces ‘Experience Day’, alongside Building Heroes, the leading tri-service to construction charity, which provides skills training to Military Veterans as well as support into employment in the building trades. The day was also supported by Salisbury Campus, part of Wiltshire College & University Centre.
Held at Wilton Community Centre, the day gave the attendees a chance to meet some of our team, including the contract’s Business Director Anne Roberts, our Head of Social Value Charlie Green and Wilton Supervisor Mark Lewis, to hear about their experiences with our business.
The team has since held their second Building Heroes event in Wiltshire, with operatives spending time afterwards with members of the local parish, talking about what their day typical looks like.
Across Milestone, we have extended our dedication to the Ex-Armed Forces committee with our Military Accelerated Programme (MAP), which aims to provide a smoother transition into civilian life by accelerating those leaving the forces into a highways career through extensive training and support.
At M Group Services, as part of our commitment to support the Armed Forces community, we are proud to hold the Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award for our efforts to provide second career opportunities for ex-armed forces personnel.
