Across Milestone, we are proud of our commitment to leave a positive lasting legacy within the communities in which we work.

We are delighted that this has been recognised through two shortlistings at the Highways UK Excellence Awards 2024. The awards, which will be announced on 16 October at the Highways UK 2024 conference, taking place at the NEC, Birmingham, celebrates the quality and excellence in the highways industry.

Announced as a finalist for the ‘Social Value’ Award, we have been recognised for our Military Accelerated Programme (MAP). Launched in 2023, MAP is designed to recruit and retain Armed Forces leavers by enabling them to develop a career in highways. Through a tailored development plan and work-based mentoring services, MAP aims to bridge the gap between the new recruits’ lack of highways experience and the requirements of the role.

The first programme of its kind in the UK, new recruits are offered a personal mentor and can also join our Ex-Armed Forces working group through MAP.

Our second nomination, for the the ‘Collaborative Partnership’ Award, celebrates our local Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Programme in Oxfordshire. Jointly sponsored by Oxfordshire County Council, the scheme was introduced in 2023 to strengthen collaboration between our local supply chain partners.

Working with Drayton Construction Ltd., Hazell & Jefferies and MJ Titchmarsh Construction Ltd., we have supported these businesses with their development programmes, which has led to an increase in work winning, social value and collaboration across the contract.

As part of this programme, we worked closely with our supply chain partners as part of the audit for our PAS2080 accreditation, demonstrating how our alignment around carbon reduction supports the delivery of tangible benefits, achieving 4,126tCo2e tonnes to date.

We would like to congratulate all those shortlisted at the Highways UK Excellence Awards 2024!
