We are proud to announce that Milestone Infrastructure has been awarded the Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS) Gold status.
The gold status is an incredible achievement. Only 24 organisations have been awarded with the logo. This means Milestone meets industry requirements and we are fully compliant with the National Highways Sector Scheme 8, meaning our quality of work is consistently good.
In total, 489 on-site assessments were carried out across the Street Lighting contracts in 12 months. We have 74 members of the team from Milestone registered to HERS and for the business to succeed, everyone had to pass their assessments and make sure their documentation and training was up to date.
Assessments were done by in-house HERS qualified supervisors and signed off by our HERS authorising officers. The assessments were then uploaded to the Highway Electrical Association (HEA) portal for approval. The work of our people was judged closely against industry standards.
Under our ISO 9001 accreditation, which is focused on quality management values, anyone working on or supervising our street lighting contracts are required to be registered to HERS. Due to the nature of the works, our business and its people must comply with the health and safety principles of National Highways Sector Scheme 8 (NHSS8).
Jack Longmoor, part of the Croydon and Lewisham Street Lighting team at Milestone said: “A HERS qualified supervisor came on-site to observe my safety and competence when carrying out various work activities. I have completed all mandatory courses following the HERS training matrix and have now successfully gained my Highways Electrician HERS card.”

The scheme was created by the HEA, a trade association with a history expanding over 65 years. The HEA is one of the largest and most influential bodies within the sector representing over 100 organisations.
