Milestone Infrastructure recently supported the Bishops Waltham North Pond Conservation Group with some tree and vegetation clearance.
Foremost Tree Surgeons dedicated a team to lead the activities on site such as tackling fallen trees and low hanging branches that posed a risk to the public. Adam Watts, Communications & Social Value Manager, and a team from our Bishops Waltham depot supported, maximising the impact of the day.
Barry Jerome, Chairman of Bishops Waltham North Pond Conservation Group, said
“The North Pond is especially popular with young families and their children who go to feed the ducks and have picnics.
“For three years, we have been unable to do our annual vegetation clearance on site, so the support offered by Foremost and Milestone was much appreciated.
We were amazed at how much the teams were able to achieve in the time, it was an excellent day.”
Thank you to everyone involved in making the day a success. It has set a benchmark for future volunteering days.
Adam said:
“This volunteering day in Bishops Waltham epitomised the way in which we want to deliver social value on the Hampshire Highways contract. It involved one of our valued sub-contractors (Foremost Tree Surgeons), local Operatives and key members of the local community.
“We are extremely proud of what was achieved on the day, as local people can now freely use the area without dangerous trees blocking their routes around the pond.”
